Five Freelance Gig Ideas for Beginners
Introduction to Fiverr Gigs
Freelancers out there who right now believe that they have no skills or valuable service that potential clients would pay for so here are five Fiverr Gigs which any beginner freelancer can start as of right now to build a five figure a month business with virtually no skills and very little investment to start with.
Gig One: UGC Content
Understanding UGC
Now if you have no idea what UGC is, it basically stands for user generated content and these are those videos that you see all over Tik-Tok or Instagram of people maybe talking about a product or talking about some kind of service. Now these are very simple, very straight forward and really all you’ll need is your mobile phone and what you’re going to do is record yourself just talking about that product or service.
Market Demand for UGC
Now UGC is huge and many companies out there are utilizing the use of UGC videos. If we go to Fiverr and we type in UGC you can see that at the moment the competition is not really that high – we’re about 8,000 results. Fiverr offers multiple different UGC categories so we have UGC ads, organic UGC and UGC videos. There’s nothing stopping you from putting three different gigs, one in each of these categories that will open up your marketplace as well.
Creating UGC Videos
For now let’s go for organic UGC because organic UGC is what I think a lot of you are going to be capable of doing right from your home, the comfort of your sofa. It’s very easy because this is the UGC content where all you’re asked to do is film yourself normally speaking somebody’s script.
Let’s take a little look at an example.
This woman creates UGC testimonials as an adult female. Right now we can see she’s got five orders in queue, her starting price starts at $70 and this is for 15 seconds. This is the way UGC normally works – most freelancers charge for 15 seconds, 30 seconds and 1 minute. For 30 seconds it’s $90 and premium is $120 for 60 seconds.
- Just to show you how easy this is, let’s go to one of her Fiverr Gigs.
- “Great feedback there, thank you for your help with my project, very quick and had amazing quality.”
- All she’s doing is setting up her phone—maybe on a tripod, leaning up against something, whatever—but she set up her phone and she is talking directly into her phone.
- This is one of those Fiverr Gigs where she doesn’t need any special equipment or editing.
- This could be about a product, a service, anything—it could be literally anything. That’s the beauty of Fiverr Gigs like this.
- All that’s happened is the client has sent her a script, then she has copy and pasted that script into a teleprompter.
- Simple Fiverr Gigs like this are perfect for beginners.
- What makes these Fiverr Gigs powerful is that they require almost no technical skill, just clarity and confidence on camera.
- Many people are now turning these types of Fiverr Gigs into consistent side incomes, doing multiple videos a day.
- So, explore similar Fiverr Gigs, learn from their profiles, and begin offering your own twist.
Advanced UGC Production
The teleprompters you can download any kind of teleprompter application on your phone and it just means that you can paste your script into your phone screen so as your phone is recording you and filming you, the script will be scrolling so you can literally read straight from the screen and that’s it. She’s sending raw footage like this starting from $70.
Organic UGC
This is a simple version of organic UGC that pretty much anybody can do. If we have a little look if we go back now, this is more an advanced version of UGC. This is maybe after a while if you want to invest a little bit more money into your setup and production. This guy does really well – he’s got $250 for a 15 second video but he also adds editing in with this as well. For 60 seconds it’s $300 – he’s a top rated seller, pro seller, people keep coming back, he’s doing really well.
If we have a look at his videos, as you can see he’s got the full editing here, he’s got the microphone, he’s got the nice lighting setup, he’s probably using a professional camera and not his mobile phone. But this is the level which you can get to if you want to and then of course you can charge a lot more money. Now this is not typical UGC video content, this is more just talking head but typical UGC is that raw organic look where people are literally just filming with their mobile phone and that’s what so many companies are paying for right now.

Gig Two: Product Research
Role of Product Research
Now the second gig idea I want to talk about is product research. This doesn’t really take too much skill. What this is, is basically clients will come to you and ask you for your opinion on different products which could be trending or the best products which they could start selling on Amazon or eBay. So your job is just to do product research to see for example maybe how the competition one product would have or if a product is selling really well.
Client Requirements of Fiverr Gigs
Information
---
If we just take a quick look, we’ve got 7,000 results so it’s not a crazy amount.
Generally these people – let’s take a little look at this woman here.
Already you can see she’s five a choice, she has a thousand plus feedback so this is not the best example for any beginner because she’s already well established but just to show you what she’s offering.
She’s got 19 orders in queue, that’s a lot and obviously she’s starting at $90 or $100 so we’re talking almost $2,000 she’s making just from the orders in queue.
Research Process of Fiverr Gigs
She does offer a lot – for example she gives one product, keyword research, in-depth analysis, budget breakdown and she also offers suppliers so she actually tells you which supplies to use to source this product. This is great for clients who are dropshipping or just looking to start selling on Amazon. Now she kind of does it to a very high level but if we go back and look at some of these other people, let’s go for this guy. He’s got four orders in queue, he’s only a level one but again he’s doing keyword research, data analysis, supply info, shipping cost, profit margin calculations. This is kind of what product research is all about.
Now you don’t have to go this detailed, you don’t have to offer suppliers, the shipping costs and all of that – you don’t have to go that far but a lot of people happily pay you to find out what trending products there are right now or what upcoming products they should be focused on. Clients will probably approach you and tell you kind of what niche that they are in whether it’s health and beauty, tech, electronics, whatever and then it’s your job to do some research to find which products are selling really well, what the level of competition with that product is and then possibly what keywords the client should use if they plan to list that product on Amazon.
Pricing and Competition of Fiverr Gigs
Now anybody can do this. This is something that might take a little bit more research and take a little bit longer when starting just to figure out basically what you need to be giving the client for them to be satisfied. As you can see a lot of people are charging around the $100 mark and there are a lot of people doing very well at this.
If I were to start doing this, one thing I would recommend is to see how this woman here – her thumbnail is very nice, it’s very clear, it’s nice, it’s fairly simple. There’s quite a bit of writing there but if you look at all the others they don’t look very nice, they’re a little bit too jam-packed with information, it kind of looks very kind of old school marketing to be honest. So that’s one thing I would focus on – your thumbnail, how you can make it clear and concise and make it stand out.
One more thing what I would do if I were you and I wanted to start this, I would also upload a video of myself. You have the option to – if we for example click back on her, you have the option right here to actually put a video of yourself telling clients what it is that you’ll provide. Videos will always sell your gig so much better than just a standard thumbnail would.
Gig Three: Voiceovers
Voiceover Market
All right, gig number three and this one will take a little bit more investment but not too much and that is voiceovers. You see, if you don’t want to be on video that’s fine, you don’t have to be on video but you can always do voiceovers and many people are looking for good voiceovers. Yes you’re probably thinking to yourself “yeah but AI has taken this over” – true it has in some ways but AI is still not at the same level as a human voice. If you have an authentic human voice or you know you’re good at voiceovers this could be a great one.
Investment Requirements
Now the investment really doesn’t have to go to insane amounts – all you really need is a very good microphone and then you can set up somewhere in your house with soundproofing where it’s going to drown out any echoes, that’s all you really need. As you can see with voiceovers, there’s 29,000 results here but I will show you how to kind of bring that competition down.
Language and Gender Specialization
Right now we’ve just searched for voiceover and we are getting literally everybody and these guys are all charging per 100 words. A client will send you a script, per 100 words you’re looking at $65, maybe $40-$50. But now what we can actually do is we can narrow this down. If English is not your first language that’s no problem, offer it in your own language. Let’s say for example we’ve got 62 different options here, let’s say Italian. Now we have all Italian people. First thing I notice is the prices are a little bit lower because maybe there’s not such a high demand for Italian but generally these guys are still killing it.
This guy does offer $10 but he’s got 772 feedback and it’s the same – you can even narrow this down even more. People will be searching for genders as well whether male or female. So if you market yourself with your own native language whether it’s English, Italian, Spanish, whatever and then you can also market yourself as you are a female voiceover or a male voiceover. If you mark yourself very specifically and not just this kind of general marketing, you’ll be able to get clients doing voiceover very easily even though there’s a lot of competition, it’s about the way that you market yourself.
Competition and Pricing
So voice over is a great way if you don’t want to be on video but of course it does come with some investment. For example you can pick up one of these microphones for maybe around $200-$300 or something like that. Of course you can get different microphones but generally it will incur some investment from the beginning.
Gig Four: Copywriting
Copywriting Opportunities
Okay this is a gig idea that I honestly recommend to pretty much everybody because it requires no investment and basically everybody can do this because it’s so simple and what it is is copywriting. Now if we look here I’ve just clicked on script writing and the reason I clicked on script writing is because the fact is with copywriting there are so many different options that you have available to you. For example you have script writing, you have content for websites, you could even do resumes, blog posts – you have so many.
If you go here on writing and translation you’ll see all of these options. For example we have ad copy, sales copy, social media copy, cover letters, podcast writing, proofreading – you have so many different options here. If you are a copywriter, even if you’re not a copywriter but you’re relatively good at writing, to be honest I was never a copywriter but right now for clients I create all of my own scripts because I’ve just relying on other people it just doesn’t work for me so I write all of my own scripts.
Writing Skills
To be completely honest one thing I find with script writing is you just have to be creative, you have to just figure out your outline. So obviously you start with a hook, maybe then you show the problem, show the solution and maybe a call to action. Now you can change this structure any way you want but generally if you’re just a little bit creative with your writing you can do this, it’s honestly not a problem and it’s so easy to be a good copywriter or a half decent copywriter anyway.
Marketplace Strategy
I’ve just put in script writing, we’ve got 6,000 results and all these guys are charging anywhere from $25 to $250. The great thing about copywriting is that you can put yourself in so many places so you can create multiple gigs here and allocate each gig to a different service. Copywriting – I know people who are making six figures a year easily with copywriting.
Earning Potential
The only downside to copywriting I find is the effort it takes. Like for me I hate writing scripts and it takes such an effort to sit there and start writing and be creative but if you’re that type of person who enjoys that, this is perfect. Like I say there are multiple different categories that you can put yourself into so this is going to open up your marketplace to incredible amounts meaning that there’s going to be so many more client eyeballs on you because you’re in all of these different categories. So copywriting content writing is definitely an easy one with zero investment needed, all you need to do is know how to write well and this is something that you can learn very easily after just doing some research.
Gig Five: User Testing
User Testing Basics
Okay gig number five and this one is for literally everyone. This one’s even for all like the stay-at-home moms out there who just want to make that extra money. This one is absolutely great and it’s user testing. Now there’s even a website called user testing.com where you can sign up pretty much as a freelancer and get paid.
Website Testing Process
- People launch their website or make changes to their website and want random people to go on there and test it to make sure everything works, every button clicks and goes to the place that it’s meant to go or for example everything is just working and it’s ideal for a normal customer.
- This is the user testing website and you can sign up here, there’s nothing stopping you from signing up and you can start doing work on here.
- Now the money on the user testing.com website it’s not great, you will make some money but it’s not exactly fantastic.
- You are best off freelancing so on Fiverr we have a whole category for user testing.
- The competition is very low – 1,900 results and generally people don’t charge a hell of a lot because the fact is it’s quite an easy job.
Reporting and Feedback
Let’s say for example, let’s check her out. “I will test and review your website or app.” She’s a top rated seller, she’s completed 621 orders on this one alone, she has 330 feedback. For $45 she will test one page and present a written summary report or a screen recorded video report. In that report basically she will probably just say what she found was great about the page, what she thinks could be improved, what is not working or directing customers to the wrong place. All she’s doing is basically just giving her honest opinion and feedback about the page that she tests.
Earning Potential
That is what people are paying for because the fact is to find somebody who’s reliable in your family or friends to test your own website sometimes just isn’t possible or they’re going to be biased because they know you. But in this situation we have actual testers, actual people testing your website and telling you “hey this needs to change, this is not good, this one is great, well done.” So user testing is a very easy job to start doing.
How many orders will you get? I honestly don’t think you’re going to be making tons of money but you will make some and like I say this is a great one for people who I believe just want to make some extra cash. User testing is very simple, very easy, you do it from your computer and that’s all there is to it.
Conclusion
So those are five gig ideas that pretty much any newbie freelancer can start doing from day one and actually make five figures a month if you want to. Now getting to five figures a month is not going to be easy, don’t get me wrong – this is not an easy stepping stone, it is going to take effort. But generally with all of these, depending on how you market yourself, how you make yourself look and how you stand out from the other competition, you could easily get to five figures a month if you want to.
