The Montana Lady Grays recovered with a big victory on Saturday after opening the new year with a heartbreaking loss to Northern Arizona.

On Saturday in Flagstaff, Sammy Fatkin led UM to an 80-76 victory over NAU with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Montana won its fourth straight game and is one of the top teams in the Big Sky Conference.

For the Lady Griz, Carmen Gefeller recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Jenna Markson added 13 points (12-11, 8-4 Big Sky Conference).

Danny Bartsch had nine points and led everyone with 17 rebounds, while McConaugh added 12 points.

For NAU (13-11, 7-4), a squad captained by Havre native Lori Payne that reached the Big Sky Tournament final in March, Reagan Schenk scored 18 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

The Lady Griz only made 7 out of 23 long distance shots while shooting 41.3 percent overall. UM outrebounded NAU 49 to 44, but suffered a 15 to 9 turnover loss.

NAU made just 9 of 41 3-point attempts and only 35.7% of their field goal attempts.

This following week, the Lady Grizz will be back in Missoula to host Idaho State on Thursday and Weber State on Saturday. In their first encounters of the season, UM defeated both groups on the road.
