Ways To Make Extra Money On The Side
You have a 9 to 5, you’re comfortable with your job, but you want to make some extra money. Some of these I currently do that help me make money on the side.
User Generated Content
One is user generated content. UGC brands will pay you for your content to make a video about a product. Maybe you don’t need a whole bunch of followers. If you can make a video about a product, you’re qualified.
TikTok Shop
TikTok Shop. I have two TikTok accounts. I have a TikTok Shop account and I have my regular account. I post like a couple 7-second videos a week of me maybe explaining a product. Sometimes I don’t even talk. I just hold the product up and put some text on screen. This is a good way to just make some passive income.
Going All Out On TikTok Shop
If you’re trying to go all out on TikTok Shop, it can be a little challenging if you’re trying to make a whole bunch of money because there’s a lot of money to be made on TikTok Shop. A lot. I’m not in a position to fully go for it because I have other things going on. So I just do the bare minimum. And with me doing the bare minimum, I consistently make a couple hundred a month. I put in what I get out.
Affiliate Marketing
And then there’s affiliate marketing. So you’re online, or maybe you’re sharing things in your stories and somebody might message you and say, “Girl, that shirt is so cute. Where’d you get that?” Give them your link. Maybe you can get on ShopMy, maybe you can get on LTK (LikeToKnow.it). There’s a whole bunch of affiliate marketing out there: Walmart, Lowe’s, Home Depot. You can apply for a lot of these affiliate programs.
Sending My ShopMy Link
If I’m filming a video and I’m doing my makeup in the video and people say, “Hey, Aisha, what concealer are you using?” I’m going to send them my personal link for my ShopMy so that if they choose to buy that particular concealer, I’m going to get that commission.
Digital Products
And then there’s digital products. I noticed that a lot of people started to message me about leasing a car and what they can do to find out if they have equity in their lease. And I said to myself, a lot of people really need this. A lot of them don’t have the time to do the sit-down research for themselves and go through all these different scenarios. Sometimes people just need to talk to you. They need to call you and say, “Aisha, I need your advice. I know absolutely nothing about cars.”
Creating A Lease Guide And Booking Calls
So I created digital products. I made a guide on how to determine if you can get out of your lease and if you have lease equity. And then I also have a link in my bio where people can book a call with me and just talk to me about whatever they need. Can you help me choose a car? What do you think about this finance? What do you think about this APR? The dealer was telling me that I need to do this, this, and that. What do you think about that? So digital products are a good thing. If you’re really, really good at something and you’re knowledgeable in that particular field, create a digital product. You’ll be surprised at how many people might buy your product.
Sell A Skill
Sell a skill. Are you really good at writing people’s resumes? Are you good at analyzing social media profiles and adjusting somebody’s bio? Are you good at home organization? Sell your skill. There are so many people out there who will pay for your skill that you think is normal.
Finding People On Thumbtack
You’ll be surprised how many people go on Thumbtack and type in the craziest things that they need, and they find somebody random on Thumbtack who will come and do that particular skill. I’m not even joking. My neighbor down the street had somebody come and simply organize his kitchen because he said, “I just can’t do it. I am discombobulated.” And I’m like, dude, why didn’t you hire me? But no, he found somebody who came by for like 2 hours and organized his kitchen.
Online Tutoring Or Coaching
There are people who will pay for your skills, online tutoring or coaching. Are you really good at math? Are you really good at English? Are you good at just listening to people and maybe giving them some career advice because maybe you have a master’s in business? There are certain things you can package your knowledge into.
Pick One And Stick With It
So pick one out of all of these that I just said. Pick one. Be consistent with it. Do it for like six months. I think people tend to get discouraged because they do it for a little bit and then they’re like, “I just can’t.” And in their head they fail, but then they start all over again. Don’t start all over again. Just pick one. Stick with it.
